Friday..snow day

We woke up to 2-3" on the course this morning..doesn't look like there will be any golf today!?!  We were able to finish aerifying the greens..just barely.  Rain on Monday, dry weather Tuesday for the front nine and nice weather Wednesday until around 4PM or so allowed us to get all the greens punched, sanded and dragged on the back nine as well.  We definitely had to hurry on the back nine Wednesday as we ended up with almost .25" of rain that evening.  Now we have snow cover and really cold temperatures predicted for tonight..18-20 degrees.  Waiting until this late in the year to aerify is always a little dicey, but I feel pretty good considering we are supposed to get back near 60 by Monday.  We have a little "touch up" work to do on the greens to get them where I want them, hopefully tomorrow will bring some sunshine and warmer temperatures so we can finish up.

As we move forward the next big project will be getting the leaves up off the course prior to putting out our winter fungicide applications towards the end of the month.  Beyond that we are shooting for sometime around the 18th to start blowing out the irrigation system.  For those of you that are tied to the golf course we will check your system regardless of whether or not you have someone else blow it out just to make sure everyone is good going into winter.

Just another reminder with the cold temperatures forecasted that we need everyone to stay off the course unless we are open for golf as damaging frosty turf this time of year will carry into winter.  The snow will also start bringing the elk down low and all the animals will be loading up for winter.  We had an incident this last week with an unleashed dog giving chase to a deer before the owner could corral the pet..this is one of the main reasons we ask that you do not walk your pet on the course and why Teton County has a leash law.  We appreciate everyone being responsible pet owners and adhereing to our no dog policy on the golf course until the cross country track is set this winter.

Have a great weekend..hope to be golfing again by tomorrow afternoon!
