Hello..October

Hard to believe September is over.  What a month..one of the wettest I can remember.  We had nearly 2 and  half inches of rain, double our average. We have only run the irrigation a handful of times the entire month!

We began greens aerification this afternoon by punching the practice green and #1.  Everything is pretty wet and it looks like we are going to have a tight two day window to get them done as another winter like storm is anticipated for Thursday.  That being said we are going to stick with our original schedule.  The practice green and front nine will be closed tomorrow and the back nine will be closed on Wednesday with the intention of opening everything back up on Thursday.

It has been a fantastic season as we work towards closing on October 13th and prepare the golf course for overwintering.  Thanks for everyone's patience over the next couple of days and we will have the greens back in "putting" condition by weeks end.  I read in an article about the importance of aerifying greens that Tom Watson shot a 59 at his home course in Kansas just a few days after they aerified their greens..perhaps there's one last great round out there for all of us as we bring the season to a close.  Have a great day.
